Cervical Dysplasia Treatment and Permanent Contraception — Outpatient, Same-Day at LCSC
This section covers three procedures performed primarily at Lapeer County Surgery Center as outpatient same-day cases: LEEP (loop electrosurgical excision procedure) for abnormal cervical tissue, cold knife conization for more extensive cervical dysplasia, and tubal ligation for permanent contraception. All three are short procedures with recoveries measured in days to one week.
LEEP and cold knife conization are the surgical treatments for cervical dysplasia (CIN) and selected early cervical conditions identified after an abnormal Pap smear, positive HPV test, and confirmatory colposcopy. Tubal ligation is a laparoscopic permanent sterilization procedure for women who have completed childbearing. All three are performed by Dr. Andrei at Lapeer County Surgery Center — with selected cases at hospital affiliations when clinical factors require it.
Choose the Procedure That Matches Your Diagnosis or Goal
Each page below explains who the procedure is for, what it involves, and what recovery looks like.
Loop electrosurgical excision procedure removes abnormal cervical tissue in women with CIN 2 or CIN 3 after colposcopy confirmation. A 10–15 minute outpatient procedure at LCSC that removes the transformation zone and provides a specimen for pathologic evaluation.
LEEP Procedure →Cold knife conization removes a cone-shaped portion of the cervix using a scalpel rather than electrosurgical energy — providing superior margin assessment for selected high-grade dysplasia, adenocarcinoma in situ, or cases where LEEP margins were inadequate.
Cold Knife Conization →Laparoscopic permanent sterilization — the fallopian tubes are divided, clipped, or removed entirely (bilateral salpingectomy) to prevent future pregnancy. A 30–45 minute outpatient procedure at LCSC with same-day discharge and a recovery of one week.
Tubal Ligation →Short Procedures. Same-Day Discharge. Recovery Measured in Days.
All three procedures in this category are performed primarily at Lapeer County Surgery Center as outpatient same-day cases. Patients arrive, have the procedure under anesthesia, recover for a short period, and go home the same day. There is no hospital admission, no overnight stay, and no large incision.
