Accurate Diagnosis Is the Foundation of Everything
Every treatment decision at Lapeer Women’s Health begins with a clear, accurate diagnosis. Before recommending medication, a procedure, or surgery, Dr. Andrei wants to know — with precision — what is actually causing your symptoms. The diagnostic services offered at both the Lapeer and Rochester Hills offices are the tools that make that precision possible.
Diagnostic gynecologic care covers the full evaluation pathway: the well-woman exam that establishes your baseline and screens for conditions before they become problems; imaging and in-office procedures that look inside the uterus, ovaries, and pelvic structures; and laboratory testing that identifies hormonal, metabolic, and systemic contributors to gynecologic symptoms. Each service is performed in the office — no hospital, no unnecessary referrals, no fragmented care.
Dr. Andrei takes an education-first approach to every evaluation. You leave each diagnostic appointment understanding what was found, what it means, and what the options are — not waiting weeks to piece together results from multiple providers.
Seven Diagnostic Services — All In-Office
Select any service below for a full explanation of what it involves, who it’s appropriate for, and what to expect at your appointment.
Your annual preventive gynecologic visit — Pap smear, pelvic exam, STI screening, contraception review, and cancer screenings tailored to your age and risk profile. The foundation of gynecologic health at every stage of life.
Transvaginal and pelvic ultrasound to evaluate the uterus, ovaries, and pelvic structures for fibroids, cysts, polyps, and structural abnormalities. Ordered and interpreted by Dr. Andrei at the same visit when indicated.
A structured diagnostic workup for heavy, irregular, or postmenopausal bleeding — including history, exam, ultrasound, endometrial biopsy, and lab testing to identify the source and guide treatment planning.
Systematic evaluation of acute or chronic pelvic pain — identifying structural, hormonal, and functional contributors including endometriosis, fibroids, ovarian cysts, adhesions, and pelvic floor dysfunction.
Gynecologic Hormone & Lab Testing
Targeted hormonal and metabolic laboratory testing to evaluate irregular cycles, PCOS, perimenopause, thyroid dysfunction, and hormonal contributors to gynecologic symptoms — ordered and interpreted in clinical context.
In-office evaluation of pelvic floor dysfunction — assessing muscle tone, prolapse stage, bladder control, and pain with function to guide nonsurgical and surgical treatment planning for incontinence and prolapse.
A clinical guide to understanding when ultrasound, MRI, CT, or sonohysterography is indicated for gynecologic symptoms — what each modality shows, what it doesn’t, and how imaging findings direct treatment decisions.
Diagnosis Before Treatment — Every Time
Dr. Andrei does not treat symptoms in isolation. Every evaluation begins with understanding the mechanism driving those symptoms — because treating the wrong thing, or treating without a diagnosis, rarely produces lasting results.
- History-first: your cycle, symptoms, timeline, and prior evaluations reviewed in full
- Clinical exam before imaging — ultrasound ordered when it will change management
- Lab panels targeted to your specific symptom picture — not a generic screen
- In-office procedures (biopsy, hysteroscopy) when tissue evaluation is needed
- Results explained at the appointment — not mailed weeks later without context
- Treatment plan presented only after the diagnostic picture is clear
“A diagnosis is not a label — it’s the starting point for a plan. I want every patient to leave knowing what we found, what it means for her health, and what we are going to do about it. That clarity is what good diagnostic care looks like.”
- GYN-only practice — every appointment focused entirely on gynecologic care
- Board-certified gynecologist with a PhD in addition to her MD
- In-office diagnostic procedures — no separate facility visit required
- Imaging ordered and results reviewed at Lapeer Women’s Health — not outsourced
- Referrals provided when subspecialty care is the right next step
- McLaren Lapeer, McLaren Flint, and Henry Ford Rochester for surgical follow-through
